University of Oregon's McArthur Court 2004-05 Season

The University of Oregon Ducks started off the 2004-05 season with a newly refinished floor by Courtsports Inc. McArthur Court has some serious issues before the floor could be repainted and refinished. Several boards in the keys, borders, and throughout the floor had cracked and split. The problems originated from previously used seal coats that are no longer recommended for gym flooring by the manufacturer. The product by Basic Coatings called Color Lok essentially glued the boards together and didn't allow for normal exansion. This is commonly known as side bonding or panelization. After the boards were replaced these areas had to be resanded so the new boards were smooth and even to the existing flooring. Courtsports then sealed these areas and repainted the entire court and logos. After the paint dried two coats of Basic Coatings Street Shoe was applied across the entire gym floor.
