COURTSPORTS - PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES
Courtsports is committed to preserving our environment. Each step of your gymnasium floor project utilizes the most stringent waste reduction and highest level of recycling in the industry. This begins with using wood flooring that is milled from a certified SmartWood Forester. SmartWood Certification is a branch of the Rainforest Alliance and sets the international gold standard for credibility in auditing environmentally and socially responsible forestry. Good forest stewardship practices have always been important to Horner. Most of the lumber purchased and manufactured by Horner Sports Floors is purchased from a small core of second and third generation landowners that cut on the same parcels as their fathers and grandfathers - a classic example of utilizing renewable natural resources on a sustainable yield program to ensure lumber availalbility for future generations. In addition, Horner has the most modern manufacturing facility in the industry today. An integral design component of this facility maximizes yield from the available lumber consumed in the manufacturing process.
Courtsports offers engineered wood products for sub flooring components. Using engineered wood products gives our customers maximum utilization of wood fiber and consequently offers the industry one of the most significant ways to preserve our natural resources.
Courtsports also offers the most environmentally friendly resilent pad option. The ECO PAD is manufactured from 100% recycled rubber and is 7/16" thick. An excellent choice if you're "going green!"
Long Life Flooring offers the most ecological, cost-savings and availability benefits of standard 25/32" flooring. Long Life Flooring gives you the wear life and structural durability of 33/32" flooring without the waste!
GreenGuard Certified Products and Equipment. Courtsports offers a variety of gym floor sealers, finishes, cleaners, and equipment that are GreenGuard Certified. For example our Pacific Sport Clean is not only GreenGuard Indoor Air Quality Certified, but it also meets more stringent requirements giving this product GreenGuard Certification for Children & Schools.
In an effort to reduce emissions and improve air quality as well as minimize energy consumption, Courtsports has implemented a corporate carpooling policy. This policy encourages and rewards employees to carpool. The majority of Courtsports staff meet and carpool to work on a daily basis. For projects that require overnight lodging employees carpool to each project.
By adjusting composition and specifying appropriate adhesives, flooring systems can be specified "green" so as to maximize LEEDS MR 4.1, MR 4.2, and EQ 4.1 credits.
