The St. Ignatius Gym Is A Suspended System:
Suspended systems are laid on a variety of cushioning materials that isolate the floor from the concrete subfloor to provide better sound absorption and biomechanical performance. Generally, these systems are used where relative moisture content is more properly controlled. Given the increased margin of resiliency and performance provided by these floors, these are some of Courtsports most popular systems.

Before installation of the new maple sports floor began the student body at St. Ingatius blessed the floor.

A vapor barrier was installed and the first layer of plywood was prepared by attaching 32 rubber cushioned pads to the bottom side of each piece of plywood.

The first layer of playwood with rubber pads attached is placed opposite the direction of the finished maple flooring. The second layer is attached at 45 degree angles.

The maple flooring is nailed. After the floor has been installed a large riding sanding machine is used to sand the floor surface smooth using 36, 60, 100, and 120 grits.

The court is sealed and game line are masked out and painted. The new center court logo is prepared for painting.

The game line tape is removed and all painted surfaces were prepared for final coatings. Before the final gloss coatings are applied all painted surfaces were abraded so new coatings adhere properly. The badminton lines were painted a natural color so they blend into maple flooring. Volleyball and badminton sleeves were flush mounted.
